Defining Commonly Used Terms
Hoard - this can mean something different to everyone. To me, the definition of a hoard, in relation to animals, is having more animals than you can properly care for. This includes having more animals than you have cages for, more animals than you can afford to feed, more animals than you are willing to clean up after.
Herd - this would be the well managed, appropriately caged and cared for rabbits owned by breeders.
Animal Rights Advocate - People who feel they are the champion for animals. They often are vegan or vegetarian. They normally feel that their way is not just the best way, but the only way, and refuse to consider other people's opinions. Often, they will attempt to force you to accept and live by their personal rules, and feel that it is their right to do so. They believe that all animals are best left in their natural environment. It is nearly impossible to have a reasonable discussion/debate concerning animals with these types.
Animal Welfare Advocate - People who want to see animals treated well and protected. They believe that animals have a place in society - usually in bed next to them. They may be vegan or vegetarian, however do not try to enforce their views upon others. They are sadly not heard from as much as the animal rights advocates, which is a shame, as you can usually have a reasonable discussion/debate concerning animals with them.
Breeder - A person who breeds animals to a standard, in an effort to improve or promote their breed of choice. They keep their animals well, and do it because they love the species/breed. Quality of life for their animals is important to them.
Mill-Type Breeder - One who breeds for profit. Will usually have more animals than they can reasonably care for, or will neglect the breeding animals while making the babies presentable. They care nothing for standard, nor the breed, but for the money that they receive for a litter.
